In 2009 this man admitted that walking was something essential to his life, “like an arm, like a leg.” This sociologist and geological engineer was the person who, in 1990, founded the well-known hiking group “Huellas” (Footprints) in the University of Antioquia.

“When I started university to study sociology I met various people who liked walking. Little by little we organized hikes and invited more people to join our group. Finally, we took the decision to give a name to our group and look for help from the university which provided us with transport, funding and eventually our own office within the campus”.

The purpose of the group was defined. Adventure followed and with each expedition more people joined the group. The two most successful trips, to Santa Elena and San Vicente respectively, counted on the participation of around 180 people.

Germán was with the group from 1990 to 2002, then he passed the helm to other students.

When he finished his studies he worked with the National Parks where he was a park warden in the Katíos, Orquídeas and Tatamá. He also worked for seven years in the department of protected areas management. During this time he made friendships and contacts with various indigenous, afro-colombian and peasant communities as well as with environmentalists. German uses these relationships to create business ties and generate local employment in the areas he travels to with groups.

Estudiante de Administración de Empresas Turísticas y Guianza. Practicante de deportes de aventura y extremo, con trayectoria en programas de ecoturismo y organización de salidas con grupos. Experiencia académica: cuatro (4) semestres de Tecnología Química en la UTP de Pereira, cuatro (4) semestres de Ingeniería de Sistemas en la UNAD y dos semestres de Química en la Universidad de Antioquia. En la actualidad forma parte del grupo humano de Arewaro y equipo de guías que apoya las diferentes actividades que se realizan desde la agencia de viajes de Tours Ecológicos por Colombia.

I am a person who loves graphic communication, web design, digital animation and multidisciplinary learning. My first vocation was social communication but then I got to know the world of digital graphic design and I started to mix communication with new technologies. From then on everything I have done has revolved around graphic arts and creativity.

With nearly 4 years of experience, I have always tried to generate added value to the projects I have managed. I studied 10 semesters of social communication; I have a diploma in Webmaster, a technical qualification in animation and design in 2D and have done a course in 3D Max Studio. However, I have got to know other programmes and software like Joomla, CSS and Adobe through my work and I’m a fanatic of Youtube and all the things I can learn through the internet.

I have a huge enthusiasm for ecology and actions that we can take to change the planet and am a great supporter of ecotourism.

Finally I would like to say “To design is not to decorate, it is to communicate”.
